Jallo Park

Activities

Jallo Park is one of the largest recreational green spaces on the outskirts of Lahore. Spread across a wide area, it combines open parkland, wildlife enclosures, botanical sections, and family-oriented attractions within a single site.

Unlike historic gardens or monument-centered spaces in Lahore, Jallo Park serves a practical purpose. It offers breathing space, exposure to nature, and outdoor recreation for residents of a dense urban area. Families, school groups, and local visitors come here to spend extended time outdoors rather than for sightseeing alone.

Because of its size and location outside the city center, Jallo Park generally feels more open and less congested than Lahore’s central parks, especially on weekdays.

 2. Geographic and Local Context

Jallo Park is located along the Lahore–Sheikhupura Road, east of Lahore’s historic core. Its distance from Mall Road and the old city allows it to retain large open lawns, tree cover, and dedicated activity zones.

The park was developed as part of Lahore’s urban recreation planning, combining green space with managed wildlife and educational facilities. It continues to function as a public park rather than a heritage site, with features added over time to support families, students, and group visits.

Jallo Zoo and Wildlife Enclosures

Adjacent to the main park is Jallo Zoo, a managed wildlife area distinct from Lahore Zoo. It houses selected animal and bird species in controlled enclosures designed for observation rather than interaction.

Compared to Lahore Zoo, this space is more spread out and quieter, making it suitable for families who prefer a slower visit.

Boating Lake

A controlled boating lake operates within the park during designated hours. Paddle and row boats are available, subject to weather and maintenance conditions. This area is especially popular with families and children.

Butterfly House and Museum

One of Jallo Park’s most distinctive features is its butterfly house and museum. The facility maintains a warm, enclosed environment suitable for breeding live butterflies. Visitors can observe butterflies at different stages of their life cycle.

Alongside live displays, the museum section presents framed and preserved butterfly species for educational viewing. This controlled indoor space adds an important learning dimension to the park.
